Learn how to boost your AdSense earnings with an extremely easy technique
If you're like me you're making money online with Google AdSense. I discovered a very simply and easy way to increase my AdSense earnings and I'd like to teach it to you in this hub. Kindly stay with me as I'll reveal the details of my technique towards the bottom of my hub. Also, if this helps you please let us know below!
You must follow Google's rules at all times
Before I get into the details of my Adsense profit maximization method I'd like to bring up three issues. Firstly, NEVER click on your own ads, even if you feel tempted. Remember, Google hires only the smartest people. Their staff are able to follow and analyze ad clicking patterns. If they see an irregularity (somebody clicking too much from the same IP address) they'll kick you off with hesitation!
Use large rectangles and be sure your Google AdSense matches your website's colors
Second two issues: As the so-called "Internet gurus" teach: 1) Use the large 336 x 280 large rectangle as this ad box is proven to get you the best results and 2) Use the color pallets to make sure your ad units resemble the rest of your content, meaning your ads' and websites' link fonts and background colors match each other.
You don't need to make you AdSense completely blend w/your site: Most people know about Google Ad boxes
Many people say publishers should blend Google ad boxes with website content. Personally, I don't agree with this and believe it's a very annoying thing to do. I think 95% of the Internet users including my 85 year-old grandmother know about Google ad boxes. Who do we think we're trying to kid by making our AdSense blend with our websites?
If you use WordPress for your sites you'll need the AdSense Manager plugin
In my websites I use WordPress as a content manager and utilize the AdSense Manager plugin to manage my Google ads. This plugin is really easy to use and allows you to copy-paste AdSense code directly into your WordPress backoffice. To insert a Google AdSense ad box in a post or page you use a code like this: [ad#largerectangle].
I stopped inserting Google AdSense in my sidebars
I no longer put AdSense sky-scrapers in my websites' sidebars because the click-through rate was dismal (under 1%). Note, click-through refers to the number of times a Google Ad gets clicked divided by page impressions. Why did I get rid of my sky-scrapers? Basically, when we surf the Internet we scan the center of the PC monitor because a) That's where the content is located and b) Most ads are usually on the side of the page. So, putting your AdSense boxes in the middle of your page should boost your click-through rate.
Watch your AdSense click-through rate at least double!
Here are the details for how to double your AdSense click-through rate. Your website pages must have sufficient textual content - at least 300 words per page. You need textual content because the AdSense spider will crawl your text and provide corresponding ads. You may also put pictures or video on your page. But, the text is by far more important.
I now prefer to put my AdSense BELOW my text
I suggest putting your AdSense BELOW your text. By placing your ads above the text it makes you look as if you don't value your own content and that you're just in the game to get visitors to click your ads and not read your text.
Use 2 large rectangles and one large link ad box
Here's my AdSense box structure: Two large 336 x 280 large rectangle right next to each other and then throw in a link unit below the two large rectangles. I usually use the large 200 x 90 link unit and use the maximum five links.
Using two AdSense large rectangles right next to each other should DOUBLE your click-through rate
You migh think having two large rectangles right next to each other is too "in your face". However, as I stated above, most people know about Google ad boxes. So, why not max out and have your two best performing large rectangles right next to each other? This way your site's visitor actually gets the best service from Google by seeing all the ads available at the same time. Consequently, he or she is more likely to find an ad that they're interested in and CLICK!
HTML code putting 2 large rectangles next to each other
To put the two large rectangles next to each other the following HTML code (see below). I'm not an HTML guru but the following code works. You may name your ads "largerectangle" with the AdSense Manager plugin. You'll have to copy-paste it into your post or page screen under HTML and not the WYSIWYG.

Now, right under that code you can put the AdSense Manager plugin code for your links box. I use this: [ad#links].

It's really very simple. By using this two large rectangles and one give-link ad box in the middle of my page and right below my content I have managed to make more money from Google Adsense and so can you!

Dawei, do you find that the content text should be a bit lighter in contrast compared to the bold title lettering in the google ads? I find my eyes go to the ads a bit more because of this. Regards...
Hey dawei great tips here.. Do the use image ads or the text ads side-by-side or both? Also another way to increase adsense earnings is by targeting high paying keywords. You can use the Free Google Adwords Tool to find out which terms are paying the highest. Keep in mind that the number you see will not all go to you because Google has to get paid too. Usually you should expect to get about a 1/3 maybe more.

Great Hub about Google ad placement. However, on the Google help map the colors displayed as being optimal is above the article and below the article.
I think that readers are getting used to seeing google ads surrounding the article without thinking that you are trying to be a webmaster. I wish that I was a webmaster.
Good advice on placing the two large ads together with a link between and to use all five links available.
Also as one commenter said, everyone should understand to select the larger rectangular ad. I have a webpage on www.merchandisingselections.blogspot.com and will see if I can use your html info there.

hi rickyracer, the first thing you have to do is apply to google adsense. once you have an account there click on "my account" in hubpages. then, click on "affiliate settings". there you'll see a list of sites. In the box next to "google" you put in your google adsense publisher ID number. It should start with ca-pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. That's it. Hope that helps. -dawei888

Some of these techniques work but one thing that you are missing is that people who search the web for keywords in google dont care how your website looks. They are only interesting in finding what they are looking for, and the more ads you provide them to click the more money you will make, its as simple as that.
You can go for looks, but its not whats going to make you the most money.

Hay thanks for the tips - I had to learn it the trial and error way. i thought the skyscrappers were great but now one even clicked on them. As soon as I changed it to the large rectangle boxes I noticed big improvements. I still need to try your method though with putting 2 large boxes under each other.

Tpri: To apply what I've explained in this hub you must host your website yourself and use Wordpress.org. For free sites hosted on wordpress.com (domain-name.wordpress.com) you CANNOT insert adsense ads. if u do i heard they'll delete your blog!!! dawei888

Hi zamanmaozzam! Absolutely NOT! Never click your own ads. Just don't do it - even from somebody elses computer! You'll get kicked off! Don't ruin your chance to make money online! AdSense works but you MUST follow ALL their rules! dawei888
I really enjoyed reading this because from your own personal experience you have worked out what works for you when it comes to earning from adSense. Plus it is interesting because some of the techniques you practice go against what is commonly preached by adSense fans such as not putting adsense below the fold. I think if you are confident in the quality of your content then it doesn't matter where on the page the ad appears.
I am going to try out the double ad block on one of my sites and see how it works for me.

I'm new to the adsense world...but is it really true to make upwards of 10k monthly from google adsense with posting content and google ad links based on high paying keywords; and if so how long does something like that take to build if lets say you work at it 16-20 hours per day?

You are right that AdSense has no business being in your sidebar.
I too have very crappy CTR in the sidebar.
Based on what I have read here, I am actually going to take action and use nothing but large rectangle boxes.
The one I already have is performing nicely. No reason to not place a second one.

I like your idea of moving the ad units down below the text. Your reason makes sense and I'm going to try that on my business site. Hi Dawei! I have a blog with adsense at http://the-hidden-spaces.blogspot.com and if I have had earnings it has been the minimun. If you have to earn a lot of money with adsense you should have a massive traffic to your website or blog. What do you think?
Thanks for the info. Last I checked, I'd never received a single click on my ads. I don't know if it's just becaue I don't have the kind of content that inspires people to click ads, or if I need to learn more about the process - but I'm trying to learn!

This is very good. I just wish I could put all the pieces together. I read different suggestions and at the time it makes sense, but I can't put it into practice. I wonder if anyone has actually set up a hub or series of hubs that starts from setting up a website right through the google ads? I suppose that would be a lot of work wouldnt it? Oh well, I'll just keep trying to understand in bits and pieces and maybe I'll finally get to the point that I can ask a question. LOL
I totally get what you have written about the ad size, so I'm going to save this and see what I can piece together beginning with the website.
